Without knowing it, you likely have already seen Stella's colorful designs on home textiles, women's apparel, ceramics, paper products and fashion accessories in Bloomingdales, Sak's Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Macy's and numerous other elegant department stores and specialty shops.

Stella is originally from the East Coast, where she received a BFA from the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts. After graduation, she created a design studio and fabric boutique in Amherst, Massachusetts, specializing in hand-printed fabric. For the past 23 years, Stella has lived on the island of Maui, licensing her artwork and designs to companies around the world. On Maui, her work can be seen at the Contemporary Village Gallery in Lahaina, Borders Books & Music in Kahului and at Maui Gicleé in Kihei.

Stella's life is filled with sun and surf, three children and a husband of 33 years. Her daughter Maya is a personal trainer, her twin sons, Kiva and Tide, are professional surfers & instructors and her husband, Barry Rivers, is an Emmy award nominated producer/director/writer and is founder and festival director of the Maui Film Festival.

"We have no art", say the Balinese, "we just do everything as well as possible". This is the way Stella tries to live her own life. Those who know her think that she's succeeded. . . beautifully!
